I really don't keep up with LJ- I've moved over to http://mikaiya.blogspot.com for my knitting blog (when I get to it), and then there's the other blog. http://jorgegortex.wordpress.com - the blog George and I are using to track our wedding plans, and general life together. In case you hadn't heard, I'm marrying the nicest man I've ever met. So there you have it! We've been engaged since New Year's Eve, and I don't think I've stopped smiling since. I'm still living in Arlington, though- so don't hesitate to stop by if you're in the DC area. We even have a guest room.

http://www.topsocialite.com/celebrities-without-makeup/I think that's really neat. It means one of two things- most celebrities really are real people, who look a ton like me. Or the other thing is that maybe I should give in and wear make-up, because... I don't look that different than they do without it. Maybe I'd be a glamour puss if I bothered? Right, like that would happen. But scroll down to Katie Couric, yo. She has MY GLASSES!!! I'm never buying new frames again.

OK folks. You're seeing it here first, I guess. Do I choose A, B, C, or D? E is an option, but it might kill me. ( Clicky for the picture options! )What do YOU think? Haircut is coming in January, at least a trim. 7 months is a bit absurd, even for a lazy person like me. I've learned that I don't have many photos of myself. And the ones I do have are pretty bad. Oops!

I used to never go to concerts. The summer after high school I went to four, and then none again for years. I went to see Genevieve's cousin's band once, and I went to see the Eels with E-rawk in Louisville. Maybe a couple other local things. And after I moved back, I go every so often to see Fools & Horses because I adore them and, of course, I know them. And seeing them play is always a high school reunion.
But lately it's nuts. First I go see Sleater Kinney, who I had barely heard of (but loved). Then a folk singer, and then Matisyahu. And Fools and Horses again. And then GUSTER (Yes, I do have a Guster is for Lovers bumper sticker now). And later this month is The Shins, and Ted Leo and the Pharmacists. That's not counting ushering at the Shakespeare Theatre once each play, or other cultural activities...
And I'm probably going to go see a few more concerts this spring. Is every indie band ever playing DC or something?? Damien Rice is coming to DAR... and The Fray are playing with OK Go at Merriweather. But both of those are really too expensive for me and my budget, with all the wedding travel coming up.
I don't go to movies much anymore. Maybe concerts are the new best entertainment. If so, I need to buckle down and start wearing earplugs... Current Location: messy deskCurrent Mood: tired

As Roommie noted, there is something going down in DC this winter. It's the ugly scarf syndrome. See, everyone in this darn city seems to be wearing the SAME ugly beige with red and black tartan striped scarf (see exhibit A as one example. It is not particularly pretty. And it's so overdone! Women, men, school children, I even saw one around a dog's neck today. This is too much. Show some originality, people! Personally, I switch it up pretty frequently. With the pink coat I wear my pale gray pashmina, or my pink Clapotis (hand-knitted). With my big black winter jacket, I wear the fake pashmina or my Harry Potter scarf (hand-knitted) or the Clapotis or one of my 4 skinny scarves (hand-knitted) or sometimes even just a little lace one (hand-knitted). I admit, usually it's the pink Clapotis. But at least I don't look like anyone else!! Break away from the mold, DC-ites. Experiment with something besides those hideous colors. Live on the wild side. Learn to knit. I'm just saying. Did I mention I'm packed and ready to go??? Sunday can't come too soon!
